Marketing Fix #27 | The No-Fluff LinkedIn Ads Playbook – Special Collab x GTM Strategist

Hi fellow marketer!

This issue of Marketing Fix is brought to you in collaboration with GTM Strategist, authored by my go-to expert on the subject Maja Voje.

I've been fangirling Maja's work both on LinkedIn and GTM strategist, each issue of which is packed with so. much. value.

So when Maja proposed that I write a guest article on LinkedIn ads, I replied with a quick excited YES!

Best of Marketing Fix

In case you missed some recent Marketing Fix issues, here are my two personal favourites.

Marketing Fix #26 | Welcome to the Era of Subscriptions, A.K.A. order a puppy for 5 hours

Marketing Fix #23 | Social Media Dilemmas of 2025 – Go ALL IN or ALL OUT?

🪡 Needles in a haystack

The special shout-out section for things that cut through the internet noise + what I've been reading, listening, watching, liking, thinking.

🪡 A definitive guide to marketing attribution. In this week's Growth Unhinged newsletter, Growth marketing leader Tim Dalrymple shared straightforward advice on marketing attribution models. If you've been struggling with tracking and evaluating your marketing activities' ROI, this one's a must read.

🪡 Brand Social Trend Report: Q1 2025. I feel like the Link In Bio newsletter by Rachel Karten is getting a mention in every Marketing Fix. But it's really that good! This week, Rachel published another quarterly social media report, with unique thoughts on Influencer fatigue, anime trend, "fewer is more" posting rule, and brands joining SubStack. Read here (7-days free trial available).

🪡 The can't-do-without tools of 6,500 tech professionals. Lenny Rachitsky shared the tech crowd's top picks across 12 categories in his LinkedIn post. There were many I hadn't heard about before, and now certainly want to try. E.g. Gamma for presentations and Mimestream for emails.

🪡 Reading rec: Granta magazine – The Spring issue of Granta magazine is out, under the superbly enticing topical flag of Dead Friends. Featuring texts by Anne Carson, Renata Adler, Gary Indiana, and Joshua Cohen among others, I can't wait to get my hands on it.

🪡 Closing thought: Who else is suffering from LinkedIn fatigue? If you've been using LinkedIn to keep up with industry news and your friends' new jobs, perhaps you, too, have the feeling that the platform has gone rotting. There's too much content, content, content – 80% of it produced by AI. So I decided to check it less frequently, and use my time for the meaningful things. Like reading full-length articles. Like reading literature and poetry. Like 1:1 meetings with other marketers. Like accepting student queries to help them with their BA and MA projects.

Goodbye to all that marketing This issue of Marketing Fix is about me leaving marketing to write some books, and your last chance to learn from me before I'm off. "Goodbye to All That" is the title of an autobiographical essay by Joan Didion. While I share very little of Didion's sentimental outlook at leaving New York in the mid-1960s, I've always felt a strong affinity with the essay's title. I've always been one to say adieu: to projects and jobs, to places and dreams. And now, it's time...

Hello marketers! And bye, for I'm off for a 2-month vacation to rest, read, and recover. This far, summer in London has been a balancing act between marketing consulting, audits, and interviews vs writing, literary events, and art exhibitions. All of it during a way-too-long heatwave. I feel like a character from one of my recent prose poems who "creaks like a little door greatly unhinged." As this newsletter lands in your inbox, I'll be walking along the far west coast at St Ives. As of next...
